Central Distribution

Our Distribution Centres form a critical part of our business, dedicated to ensuring that our customers can get the goods they want, when they want them. We have six centres across the UK, as well as various remote and premium distribution centres that also handle some seasonal and tactical product ranges. This is usually the case during our busiest periods, such as Easter and Christmas. The importance of our distribution centres is underlined by the levels of investment we have made in them, especially within the field of technology.

Everyone works together to create a friendly, open and co-operative culture where all staff are encouraged to share ideas. This has in turn helped to revolutionise the centres over recent years.
There is a lot more to our distribution centres than just being big and busy places to work, however. In all honesty, you’d struggle to find a better place to build a career. There’s never a dull moment as challenges can arise at any time, whether it’s a change in product lines or co-ordinating delayed deliveries. With the planned expansion of the Homebase store portfolio underway, there are a wealth of opportunities to further your career and make your mark on our business.

Supporting the centre’s activities is the Central Distribution team working within Head Office to support the physical network of distribution centres. Distribution Strategic Planning ensures that the infrastructure is in place to support the business growth, whilst leading any major change initiatives within the network. The team is also responsible for all strategic transport and warehouse planning, centralised purchasing and finally providing a key interface with the rest of the organisation to ensure that the distribution centres can efficiently meet their service commitments.
